PwC is joining forces with Business in the Community and Accenture to help drive their UK wide Inclusive Digital programme, which is focused on accelerating the responsible digital agenda.
PwC will be one of ten founding members of a new Digital Champions Network, responsible for driving this initiative. The founders are Accenture, Anglian Water, ARM, Aviva, Barclays, Fujitsu, PwC, Rolls-Royce, Sky and Unipart.
The Champions Network, supported by Accenture, is asking businesses to commit to priorities and actions which ensure an inclusive digital revolution that serves all.
Protect, support and empower customers by simplifying data practices; building inclusive digital access; and enabling more informed consumer choices;
Embrace the changing nature of work by preparing employees with digital skills; anticipate automation with new roles; extending employer responsibility for the growing ‘gig’ economy workforce;
Deliver innovative products and services that serve society by designing technology with purpose; promoting sustainable consumption and partnering across industry to design and scale solutions that benefit society; and
Drive a transparent, inclusive and productive value chain by empowering suppliers with digital solutions and training; minimising the environmental impact of operations; using technology to address corruption, exploitation and environmental harm.
Sheridan Ash, PwC’s Women in Technology leader, added:
"Diversity in technology roles is vital if we want the solutions and products of the future to work for all of society. Getting more females interested in technology roles and the opportunities they can offer, needs to start at school age in order to build a sustainable pipeline."
Emma Cox, PwC’s head of purpose, commented:
“Becoming a BITC Inclusive Digital champion was a no-brainer, as it sits so well with our purpose - to build trust in society and solve important problems, and complements the work we are doing with the WEF and Stamford University on ensuring the Fourth Industrial Revolution helps tackles the world's biggest environmental issues, such as climate change, healthy oceans and sustainable cities."
