  • Shortlist demonstrates strength of private business across UK regions and industries

The UK Private Business Awards, sponsored by PwC, demonstrate the strength of the country’s private businesses across a variety of sectors and locations. Selected from hundreds of nominees, the finalists announced today range from technology and aerospace firms to farms and fashion houses.

Since starting in 2011, the awards have celebrated the best of the private business sector and its importance to the UK economy. The 62 companies shortlisted employ more than 12,000 people, have a combined turnover of £2.0 billion and operating profits of £487 million. The winners of this year’s awards will be announced on 13th September 2018 at the gala awards at the The Brewery, London.

Brian Henderson, partner at PwC, said:

“It’s brilliant to see such a diverse shortlist of companies, representing a range of industries and all regions of the UK.

“As a crucial part of our economy, it’s important we continue to recognise and support UK private businesses and their valuable contribution to our society.

“Embracing technology and diversification, great stories of entrepreneurship and doing the right thing for employees and the community are a few ways in which firms stood out from the pack to make the shortlist. Each company or individual named should be immensely proud of their achievements to get to this stage, against such tough competition. ”
