Quentin Cole, Head of Health Industries at PwC, commented:
"With no extra budget or tax announced to support the NHS today, the Spending Review in 2019 could present the next opportunity for a much needed cash injection.
"Recent PwC polling found the general public are willing to invest in the NHS to improve their experience by paying more tax. Two thirds (66%) of the people surveyed would be happy to pay more tax if it means that the quality of the NHS improves.
"However, money alone will not solve the crisis. In the long term, the health and social care system itself needs to be reshaped entirely to deliver improved outcomes, optimise resources available and empower patients."
