PwC comments on 'Planning for the future' white paper

Mar 12, 2020

Rob Walker, PwC construction and engineering leader, comments on the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government's 'Planning for the future' White Paper which is due in the Spring:

“We hope that the White Paper will bring about revolutionary reform that will not only simplify the planning framework and eliminate uncertainty for developers and investors but provide a springboard for innovative sustainable growth across the UK.

“In what will be the first planning reform in over 20 years, the White Paper has the potential to radically improve social welfare while delivering on the UK’s net zero ambitions. Crucially, it should set out the Government’s stall on how it can work with the private and public sector to deliver its commitment to develop 300,000 new homes a year and generate much needed investment to sustain local communities and their environments in the long term.”
