Vicky Parker takes charge as PwC Energy Utilities & Resources Strategy& leader

18 Nov 2021

PwC has appointed Vicky Parker, a passionate advocate of sustainable decarbonisation across the energy industry, as its new UK Energy, Utilities and Resources Strategy& leader.

Vicky brings with her over 15 years of industry experience, including nine years as a Partner at KPMG, where she led the energy strategy team and, latterly, at Accenture where she was the Global Strategy lead for the power and utilities sector and also co-led the Global Energy transition team focused on Oil and Gas.

Recently, Vicky’s focus has included strategic advice for companies to support their transformation to net zero covering everything from portfolio design and optimisation,  resetting capital allocation policies through to customer engagement strategy and operating model structures.

In her previous roles Vicky advised clients on new portfolio strategies for international oil companies to support their transition to net zero and redefining the role of energy retail with a particular focus on the European and Asian markets. She was also involved in the use of carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS) and hydrogen in new sectors such as mining and power generation, as well as new nuclear and renewable investments. She brings with her a wealth of experience across major infrastructure projects including advising on investment into UK nuclear new build and decommissioning.

With COP26 providing a renewed focus and momentum on the journey to net zero, Vicky Parker reflected on what this means for the energy sector:

“It’s clear the world is watching and expecting change with an imperative to act. As Sir David Attenborough said in his speech we must “turn tragedy into triumph”. Companies and leaders must deliver on this - we cannot afford to fail.

“In practical terms this means the largest mobilisation of finance we have ever witnessed to drive change and new investments to support the transition, alongside new leadership which is brave and has conviction in the climate change goals. There also needs to be a relentless focus on sustainable  purpose throughout the organisation as well as the boldness and creativity to forge new partnerships across sectors to bring together much needed skills and innovation.

“The transformation required is enormous; I look forward to working with the teams at PwC to support our clients on this journey as they evolve and adapt to meet an ever more demanding investor and consumer landscape.”

Drew Stevenson, PwC UK’s Energy, Utilities and Resources industry leader, said of the new appointment:

“As COP26 comes to a close, it is fitting that we appoint a new partner and leader who is passionate about sustainable decarbonisation of the energy sector.

“Vicky’s appointment comes at a critical inflexion point for the UK and global energy industry as it accelerates its net zero journey. I am confident that she has the drive and experience to help our clients - and the broader industry -  evolve and adapt to this changing landscape, and address the implications of reshaping portfolios, reallocating capital and investing in talent and systems to support change and growth.”
