(“the Schemes”)

The purpose of this Announcement is to briefly update members of the Schemes on recent developments in relation to Carillion plc and its group companies.

On Monday 15^th January Carillion plc, Carillion Construction Limited, Carillion Services Limited, Carillion Integrated Services Limited, Carillion Services 2006 Limited and Planned Maintenance Engineering Limited (“the Companies”) entered into an insolvency process known as compulsory liquidation. The Trustees have been advised that this process has been entered into for these Companies in order that the OR and Special Managers will continue to operate the business whilst the position and options are assessed in an effort to protect the interests of all creditors of the Companies. At this stage it is too soon to say what will happen to other companies in the Carillion Group.

The Trustees have been very closely involved in all discussions with stakeholders over the last few months in order to protect members’ interests as far as possible. They will continue to work to understand the next steps and what these may mean for members. This includes working with the Pension Protection Fund which provides compensation to members of defined benefit schemes whose sponsoring employer becomes insolvent.

The Trustees will provide a more detailed general update as soon as they have further information and will also write to members of each Scheme in relation to their own circumstances.
