Local students join PwC’s Business Insight Week

This week PwC welcomed 163 Year 12 work experience students across its offices around the UK to complete Business Insight Week (BIW). PwC North West played host to nine talented, locally based students, in its Manchester office - No.1 Spinningfields.

The students had to go through a competitive application process to secure a place, with PwC helping them with career planning throughout the week. All were provided with details on how they could join PwC after completing their studies, whether joining as a School and College Leaver, a Flying Start degree student or whilst in their penultimate year of University on a Summer Internship.

BIW is PwC’s paid work experience programme which invites students to shadow teams of professionals in those areas of interest expressed by the participating students. The local students and the tax, audit, internal audit and consulting teams they’ve supported worked on a wide range of projects for household brands, governments, charities and global companies.

Are you, or do you know someone interested in taking part in our Business Insight Week?

If your finishing school or college soon (or recently have) and want to learn more about the opportunities available at PwC?

Our summer work experience vacancies for this year are now closed, but our 2020 vacancies will soon be open. Please visit our (BIW) website here, and register your details with our ‘talent network team’ by completing this form

To give you an idea of what it's like to be part of our BIW, we captured some feedback received from some of those involved in the 2019 programme:

Lauren McLauchlan, North West BIW participant

“My week at PwC has been pivotal in helping me to choose my future career path. Shadowing members of the assurance, tax and consulting departments during my week has given me a great insight into what working at PwC as an apprentice, graduate or flying start degree student would be like and I thoroughly enjoyed my week.”

Katy-Rose Hurley, PwC Assurance Associate and North West BIW buddy

“I had two Year 12 students shadow me during the Business Insights Week and they had the opportunity to attend various meetings as well as performing work on clients. The students fitted into the office well and were keen to learn about the great culture we have at PwC.

"Both students completed all tasks to a high standard and even had the confidence to speak in some meetings to introduce themselves and ask questions. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and hope the students have a better insight of life at PwC.”

We would like to wish Leah, Mohammed, Lauren, Eleanor, Bilal, Jonathan, Lily, Isla and Dhruv every success in their future careers and we’re delighted they enjoyed BIW during their summer holiday.

Our BIW participants joined us for five days, from Monday 5 August 2019
