With the imminent arrival of new rules and guidance about whistleblowing, the PwC Fraud Academy roadshow is coming to Belfast in November to discuss these latest developments.

The current UK legislation does not require organisations to do anything in response to receipt of a whistleblowing allegation; there are no requirements to establish systems or to handle concerns in a certain way, and there are no requirements to provide information to staff. Now, with the introduction of the EU Directive, all legal entities in the public sector, and private sector organisations with more than 50 employees, will be required to establish internal systems.

And the need for guidance on what those internal systems should best look like is also on the international agenda.

The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) is developing a new standard, ISO 37002, which will come into effect by the end of 2021. ISO 37002 will “provide guidelines for implementing, managing, evaluating, maintaining and improving a robust and effective management system within an organisation for whistleblowing.”

This Fraud Academy event will explore both these developments, in addition to considering the impact that corporate culture plays on their success or indeed, failure. This highly anticipated event is a must for all organisations, regardless of sector, for anyone with an interest in what can often be considered a complex topic.

We will be joined by Dr Ashley Savage, independent specialist in whistleblowing, information rights and governance, who will provide his views. Attendees will also have the chance to put their questions to our panel during the Q&A session.
