Cost of staying in Belfast hotels grows at over five times the UK average

The cost of staying overnight in a hotel in Belfast has risen more than five times as much as the UK average since June 2017, according to an assessment by PwC, rising to almost £80. And the PwC Hotels Forecast 2019 suggests that competition in the local hotel sector is heating up with new openings leading to a fall in occupancy rates, but the reward being increased revenue for those who succeed to attract visitors.

PwC in the UK boosted annual revenues by five percent to more than £3.7bn in the year to 30 June 2018, according to the firm’s annual report published today [Monday 17 September 2018]. Northern Ireland is its fastest growing UK region, with the Belfast office now a recognised global centre for technology and digital advisory services. The annual report singles out the Belfast-based PwC Operate division which brought in annual revenues of over £40 million - predominantly from export markets.
