The path to equality - We've come a long way, but there's still a long way to go

The PwC Shine Network were delighted to host our event on Friday 21 May 2021, celebrating World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.

Cultural celebrations foster respect and open-mindedness for other cultures. Celebrating our differences, as well as our common interests, helps unite and educate us.

We heard inspiring stories from our fantastic panel of speakers, including:

  • Ben Hunte, Journalist and Presenter.
Ben is the BBC's first LGBTQ+ Correspondent, reporting on stories surrounding sexuality and gender. In July 2020, Ben took the top spot of The Guardian and DIVA Magazine’s Pride Power List.

  • Jayne Ozanne, Ozanne Foundation Director.
Jayne is a campaigner for LGBTQ+ equality within the Church of England and the wider evangelical community. Her charity works with religious organisations around the world to eliminate discrimination based on sexuality or gender. Jayne is also a former member of the Government’s LGBTQ+ Advisory panel.

The discussion was hosted by Andrea Als, Director Ambassador for the PwC Shine and Black Networks. Andrea is a Director in PwC’s Legal practice, and is passionate about driving forward LGBTQ+ and Black inclusion across the organisation and beyond.
