PwC fundraisers help keep Cardiff homeless shelters open

A team of eight from PwC’s Cardiff office won a charity competition tackling homelessness in Wales by raising the most money of all the businesses taking part.

With the aim of raising as much money as possible against four other businesses in the West and Wales region, there were four awards up for grabs across the 50-day challenge. All proceeds from Clash of the Corporates will go to helping keep open Wallich night shelters across Cardiff.

PwC walked off with Most Money Raised and Best Teamwork for its efforts in raising a total of £4,500, which includes fund-matching from the business. The team climbed Snowdon, held bake sales, rugby sweepstakes, a raffle and a quiz. Their main event was a live music benefit at St Davids Hotel, which provided a room and prizes for a silent auction for free.

Team leader and PwC senior associate Emily Nixon commented:

“Our success was due to the commitment of each member of the PwC Clash of the Corporates team organising and running these events as well as getting our colleagues, clients and other stakeholders to engage.

"Fundraising is an extremely time-consuming activity, so it was amazing to get such support from the team and the Cardiff office. Given that none of us were given any time within working hours to complete this, it's a testament to the team that it was such a success.”
