"When I saw an advert for a job at the FA, I wrote and applied, and then got a polite letter saying, 'Thanks, but no thanks'. This just made me more determined to ask 'why not' and 'what is it that I have to do to get a job in sport'. That was the first time that I felt some sort of fire to do something in terms of a career."
