PwC Scale | Yorkshire - following its success last year the programme returns for its second year in 2019
Following the success of the first Scale | Yorkshire programme PwC is launching its second scale up programme. This year, PwC has teamed up with Stuart Clarke, the well-known and respected figure in the Leeds tech ecosystem (and founder of the Leeds Digital Festival) to develop and run the programme for 10 ambitious tech businesses.
Starting in May 2019 the 10 week programme is specifically tailored for later stage companies with validated products, finance and scalability, looking to grow and take advantage of PwC’s resources and corporate client network.
Through its three core components, PwC will provide the tools to enable the tech businesses to effectively and efficiently scale their business. PwC’s curated events give founders the opportunity to meet and pitch to the PwC extended network of industry decision-makers, expanding their commercial opportunities. Group masterclasses provide valuable insights through a combination of PwC and industry experts, as well as learning from shared peer experiences. Finally, individual bespoke counsel including coaching and business support will leave the 1o cohorts fit to scale.
Stuart Clarke, Co-delivery partner added;
“Having observed the Scale Yorkshire programme in 2018 and seeing the difference it made to the cohort, I'm delighted to be a part of the team delivering this year's programme. Growth companies are vital for the regional economy and Scale Yorkshire is a key enabler for success.”
The 2018 cohort was made up of ten scale-up businesses - here’s what two of them said about being part of Scale | Yorkshire:
Zandra Moore, CEO, Panintelligence
“To say the programme exceeded our expectations is an understatement. It opened our eyes to what we needed to think about when scaling and how to challenge ourselves. We are currently fundraising and we are in a much better place from taking in part in Scale. I’d recommend it to all companies who are ready to scale up.”
James Gupta, CEO, Synap
“We got a lot out of being part of the Scale | Yorkshire programme last year. At the time we had been trading for 4 months and had picked up our first few clients, but through Scale we were able to learn - from workshops and speaking with fellow entrepreneurs - on how to effectively grow a tech business and sell into enterprise. I’d highly recommend it to any scale-ups looking to take their business to the next level”.

Dan Stott, PwC's Head of Deals for Yorkshire and the North East, said:
"I’m delighted that we are announcing the launch of our second Scale | Yorkshire programme following its success last year which clearly demonstrated that this region is home to some of the best digital talent and innovative start-ups.
Being able to recognise the important role that scale-ups play in the regions’ economy and understand that their growth and future success relies on sourcing new commercial opportunities really strikes accord with our place and purpose.
Our programme is designed to help regional businesses, small and large, with their strategic growth aspirations by opening doors to our networks, facilitating introductions and helping with key skills training – which we hope will pave the way to them becoming even more successful."
