Leadership Exchange on New World. New Skills

Convening influential leaders to tackle the growing skills divide

July 2020

On 21 July 2020, over 60 diverse and engaged minds gathered virtually to start a powerful movement to find solutions to the global skills crisis. Leaders from across business, government, accademia and charities collaborated to make a difference, sharing insights, experiences and making personal commitments to champion the upskilling agenda through:

  • Personal upskilling: Acquiring the skills needed to lead in this “new world”
  • Organisational change: Helping to drive effective change around upskilling their own organisations
  • Social impact: Ensuring we are having a positive impact on wider society

“We need to collaborate and start a movement. The power of us coming together will help to solve this problem.”

Carol StubbingsGlobal Leader, New World, New Skills.

How we can work together to drive positive change

Perspectives from the community

The resounding impact of COVID-19 was to stop us talking about upskilling and force us to get on and do it.

Our young people are in a precarious situation. We need to help them develop the skills they need for the future.

We want to create a burning platform for the skills agenda, creating a case for change and drawing attention to this issue so that true action can be implemented.

By expanding opportunities into disadvantaged communities, we can have a real, lasting impact.

Fusion skills – not soft skills or academic skills, but a combination of both – are the future.

The resounding impact of COVID-19 was to stop us talking about upskilling and force us to get on and do it.
