My career ambition has become an international adventure

Jenny started her PwC career in Vancouver in 2013, several years later she took the opportunity to transfer to the Sydney office before then relocating to PwC London in 2021. Here is her story…

Tell us more about your PwC career journey and your current role

I started in 2013 as a Summer Intern within the Audit team at PwC Vancouver later becoming a full time employee. I gained invaluable experience  over the following 3 years before moving to PwC Sydney. After my first year I wanted a new challenge and accepted the opportunity to transfer into the Transactions team within Deals, Australia.

I’ve always wanted to live in England, and so in August 2021 I made the move and joined the Transactions team in London, where I’m a Senior Manager in the Industrial Products and Services (IPS) Financial Due Diligence (FDD) team. My work involves advising private equity and corporate clients on both the buy-side and sell-side transactions and Initial public offerings (IPOs).

Since joining PwC, I’ve been presented with a wide range of opportunities that have enabled me to move with ease from Audit into Transactions (Financial Due Diligence). This has allowed me to pursue my career interests and drive my personal development whilst embracing my love for travel and adventure.

How would you describe the culture at PwC?

Working collaboratively is embedded in the heart of the PwC culture. I’m impressed that when working across three continents and different cultures, I’ve always been surrounded by supportive and ambitious colleagues that have strongly influenced my evolving leadership style.  It’s important to me that it revolved around kindness, trust and everyone’s ability to embrace differing views and walks of life.

How are you professionally and personally supported at PwC?

At PwC, I am fully supported by a dedicated career coach and a team of accomplished mentors who often share their unique experiences to help guide me in my self development and career progression. I greatly value their commitment to me and appreciate their guidance which has been instrumental in shaping my PwC journey.

I feel particularly proud of how I’ve progressed my role in London, from joining the team as a Manager in 2021 and then being quickly promoted to Senior Manager in January 2022.

In Deals, we are the forerunners in adopting the latest innovative technology, with training available to all team members (all grades). My role has been greatly enhanced and supported by the use of advanced digital tools that enable us to work more effectively with data and draw more data-driven insights for the benefit of our clients.

What makes PwC distinctive to you?

The nature of work in Transactions (Financial Due Diligence) is often fast paced with time critical deadlines, however, thanks to the PwC Deal, I feel empowered to work flexibly in a way that works well for me. I can work from home or flex my working hours to suit my personal life and family commitments. I am particularly impressed with the PwC initiative of Summer Working Hours that enables me to wrap up my work on a Friday lunchtime every week during June, July and August.

I am so grateful for the extensive PwC Global Network that has supported my desire for international working. It’s no surprise that I love to travel, and both of my international PwC experiences in Sydney and London have allowed me to do so with the support of my teams .
