Working in Deals as a graduate

We work with our clients to create, realise and protect value when advising on mergers, acquisitions, restructuring or operating in a crisis.

Working in Deals as a graduate

On our Deals graduate programmes, you’ll experience different areas of the Deals business; helping you to grow your internal network and providing you with a good foundation in all aspects of deals and crises. You'll obtain a breadth of professional experience and more in-depth knowledge across our Deals propositions. Our entry routes include technology-focused pathways, where you can expect to dive into specific areas such as Tech Compliance, Data or Development/ Build/ Test. Alternatively, you may find yourself more drawn to our Deals-wide ‘One Deals’ pathway.

Over the programme, we’ll invest heavily in your training and development. You’ll learn from experienced people, benefit from formal training courses and spend time with your Talent Coach. As a Deals professional you could also be helping our clients to prepare for, respond to and emerge stronger from a wide range of business risks and issues.

Lead Advisory

In Lead Advisory we offer a full range of financial advisory services to our clients across corporate finance, which includes acquisitions and disposals for corporate and private equity clients, restructuring M&A (mergers and acquisitions), valuations along with debt and capital advisory. We operate across all industry sectors – clients range from corporates and private equity houses, to major government departments and private sector contractors and developers.

Transactions

In Transactions we support private equity firms, investment funds and corporate clients through mergers, acquisitions and disposals. Advising throughout the lifecycle of the deal, we work on both the buy and sell side of the work, where our people develop specialist sector understanding and build key skills in financial due diligence. We have an excellent reputation of bringing deep industry expertise, actionable insights through analysis and deals experience.

Value Creation & Realisation

In Value Creation and Realisation we help our clients to achieve value, business growth and resilience by identifying and delivering new opportunities for trusted, sustained outcomes that others miss or cannot deliver. We also support clients with investments, setting and implementing commercial and operational value creation plans, and providing advice and services both pre and post transaction.

Restructuring & Forensics

In Restructuring and Forensics we advise under-performing companies on restructuring, refinancing, accelerated mergers and acquisitions and insolvency - finding the best way forward for the business and its stakeholders; we help our clients to prepare for, respond to and emerge stronger from a wide range of business risks and issues. These include major public enquiries, rogue trader or bribery allegations, and commercial and transactional disputes across all industry sectors.

Life in Deals

We’re helping our clients manoeuvre through some major changes in the business world and our Deals teams are there to help navigate the opportunities ahead.

If you can see the big picture behind the numbers, you’ll love being part of our inspiring team. Your independent, creative and fresh thinking will allow you to develop valuable insights that help your clients.

We’ve a strong focus on wellbeing and work-life balance within Deals, especially when many of our client projects can be so fast paced and unpredictable in nature. It’s important that we give everyone that wellbeing support.

We’ve a big focus on empowerment too - our Deals colleagues are required to challenge our clients and senior stakeholders internally and externally, so we’ve developed a suite of tools and training to give that confidence to do this from the start.

We work in an environment where questions are encouraged, challenge is the norm and pride in our work is the goal. We foster a culture of learning, innovation and trust, not only with our clients but with each other too. This brings our teams even closer together and we want you to be part of this.

With the variety of clients we have a PwC, no two career pathways are ever the same, but you’ll be supported through every milestone of your career, by your manager and local Partner.

One Deals and Edge Programme

You can join PwC Deals as a graduate through either One Deals or One Deals Technology.

  • Some One Deals programmes are part of our international career development programme, Edge.
  • Edge includes in-depth training, international events, and a six-month international secondment.
  • In September, you’ll attend the four-day International Deals Foundation Event to develop business and personal skills.
  • You’ll study to become a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW). This qualification will take three years.
  • On completion, you’ll receive the PwC Advanced Certificate in Deals and can specialise in your preferred area and industry.

Edge combines development opportunities, international rotations, professional learning, and support to complete a professional qualification. You’ll gain exposure to services like carve-outs, post-merger integrations, refinancing, restructuring, and more. Visit pwc.com/edge for more information and check job listings to verify Edge participation. A degree in any subject is required, and many roles are filled through internships and placements.

One Deals Technology

You can join PwC Deals as a graduate through either One Deals or One Deals Technology.

Focused learning and development to become a well-rounded technologist. Roles range from Analysts to Architects, providing specialist knowledge across different areas of the technology lifecycle

The roles our One Deals Technology graduates can expect to focus on are:

Data
Data is at the core of our business, and we need to ensure that it’s collected, stored, prepared, analysed, visualised, interpreted and managed properly. To do this we require a number of specialists across different parts of the data lifecycle.

Development, Build, Test
The process for the deployment of new or updated software typically follows the cycle: development, build, test, release. At each stage of this cycle, specialists are needed to ensure that deployment is successful.

Tech Compliance
PwC operates in a vast number of markets and industries, many of which are highly-regulated and controlled. Professionals specialising in legal standards, risk, quality and compliance are needed throughout our organisation to ensure that the work that we deliver, and the standards to which we hold ourselves, are always of the highest quality.

Our One Deals Technology pathways do not include a professional qualification.

Life in our Deals practice

Our Deals practice is more focused than ever on ensuring all colleagues are working towards a sustainable career. We listen to our people and know what’s important to them throughout their career, whether that’s broadening their client portfolios and working towards their next milestone, to understanding how we can better help each other when life inside and out of work is busy.

This brings our teams even closer together and we want you to be part of this.

With the variety of clients we have a PwC, no two career pathways are ever the same, but you’ll be supported through every milestone of your career, by your manager and local Partner.

The future of Deals

There’s more data than ever before, but it is often hard to uncover the value behind the information. This leads businesses to overlook what could be meaningful intelligence. Information that could be the crucial value driver for future mergers, acquisitions, disposals or restructuring activities. As a Deals specialist you’ll help our clients to cut through the complexities arising from too much data and unlock the opportunities, with our industry expertise and using the technology tools available to us.
