Working in Deals as a Graduate

As part of our One Deals Graduate programme, you’ll experience different areas of the Deals business; helping you to grow your internal network and providing you with a good foundation in all aspects of deals and crises. You'll obtain a breadth of professional experience and more in-depth knowledge across our Deals propositions; to try out different types of work, and spend time with different clients. This not only helps you make more informed career decisions, it will also build your skills, making you a more rounded and capable professional.

Over the programme, we’ll invest heavily in your training and development; through the EMEA wide Edge programme and your training in the UK. You’ll learn from experienced people, benefit from formal training courses and spend time with your Career Coach. As a Deals professional you could also be helping our clients to prepare for, respond to and emerge stronger from a wide range of business risks and issues.

The future of deals

Our Deals practice is split into five main areas:

  • Our Business Restructuring Services practice is one of the UK’s largest. Here we advise under-performing UK and European companies on restructuring, refinancing, accelerated mergers and acquisitions and insolvency – finding the best way forward for the business and its stakeholders.
  • In Corporate Finance we offer a full range of financial advisory services, from acquisitions and disposals for corporate and private equity clients, to advice on infrastructure, energy and public sector projects. We operate across all industry sectors – clients range from corporates and private equity houses, to major government departments and private sector contractors and developers.
  • In Forensic Services we help our clients to prepare for, respond to and emerge stronger from a wide range of business risks and issues. These include major public enquiries, rogue trader or bribery allegations, and commercial and transactional disputes across all industry sectors. We could be involved in any one, or all of these types of engagements.
  • In Transaction Services we support private equity firms, investment funds and corporate clients through mergers, acquisitions and disposals. Advising throughout the lifecycle of the deal, we work on both the buy and sell side of the work, where our people develop specialist sector understanding and build key skills in financial due diligence.
  • Our Valuations team are diverse and collaborative. They work alongside clients to support them in making key commercial and strategic valuation decisions on business deals or restructuring, disputes, tax regulation and financial reporting. Valuing a business involves a blend of technical and industry knowledge, commercial and market insight and an inquisitive mind.

Joining as a graduate

A number of our One Deals Graduate programmes will be part of our innovative international career development programme which we call Edge. As part of Edge, you’ll receive in -depth training, participate in international events and build your global network.

You’ll also study towards your Chartered Accountant (ACA or CA) qualification.

Upon successful completion of the programme and your professional qualification, you'll be awarded the PwC Advanced Certificate in Deals and be given the opportunity to specialise in the area and industry which best suits you and where you can build a successful career.

‘Edge’ is a blend of development opportunities (some international), rotations in a number of Deals business units, professional and technical learning and the support to complete a professional qualification. You could gain exposure to the following services: carve outs and post-merger integrations, refinancing and restructuring, major public enquiries, rogue trader or bribery allegations and bankruptcy and fraud.

For our Deals programmes, you'll need to have or be on course for a 2.1 degree or above in any subject. Many of our Graduate roles in Deals are filled exclusively through our internship and placement opportunities.
