John Clegg

Head of Corporate, Legal Private Business and Deals Leader, PwC United Kingdom

John is an English qualified lawyer and he leads PwC UK’s Legal Corporate and Deals team nationally based across London, Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds.

John leads PwC’s UK Legal Corporate & Deals practice, with teams of corporate lawyers working across London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds.

John has a particular specialisation in domestic and cross-border M&A, international and domestic business reorganisations, joint ventures, shareholder arrangements and shareholder reward schemes. He frequently leads and works within multi-disciplinary teams both domestically and internationally, providing an integrated approach to corporate advisory services ranging from stand-alone due diligence engagements to full transaction design and execution.

“John is responsive and has a "can-do" attitude. He is commercial/pragmatic in his approach, achieving a balance between advising on the blackletter law and considering the risk/commercial reality of a situation. This is an excellent attribute and one that will always make me revert to John ahead of others for advice.”

CEO, UK Private Owned Group

John has extensive experience having been a corporate lawyer for over 19 years. He brings a “client” perspective to his role having previously spent 5 years on the board of an AIM-listed business as Director of Legal & Corporate Affairs prior to joining PwC. John originally qualified and trained at an international law firm.
