Police forces in England and Wales have been given a target to recruit an additional 20,000 police officers by 2023. Police forces are faced with a dual challenge of how to recruit at this scale while also ensuring that they have a representative and diverse set of applicants. This is not a new phenomenon. The Swedish Police Authority is facing a similar issue and has to grow their police force by 10,000 police employees by 2024.
