Government sets out approach to regulating AI

The Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT) published a white paper detailing its cross-sectoral plans for regulating artificial intelligence (AI) on 29 March 2023. The white paper builds on a previous policy paper published on 18 July 2022 and responses from over 130 different stakeholders.

It reaffirms the Government’s intention to establish a principles-based framework, and sets out in more detail how this framework will be implemented by the regulators and monitored by the Government.
