PwC UK is excited to announce the launch of 'Tech Catalyst', a dedicated AI and technology innovation unit which will fast-track technology, AI, and data-driven transformation for both its clients and its service delivery. Tech Catalyst has been in the making over the last 10 months and brings together human centric design and technical capabilities in AI, cloud, data and software engineering, together with a dedicated emerging tech research function to help clients assess the opportunities of new technologies.
Tech Catalyst is designed to provide PwC with pioneering solutions that meet the diverse needs of its clients. By providing robust technical advisory and an end-to-end approach—from initial prototyping through to rapid deployment, solution development and engineering, through to platform service operations – Tech Catalyst helps clients quickly translate new innovations to deliver business outcomes.
Umang Paw, CTO PwC UK said:
“We are now in what is being called the Intelligence Age, where AI with human-like reasoning abilities, combined with access to historical and real-time data, continuous connectivity, and robotics, will drive the execution of complex tasks. This will transform existing industries and give rise to new ones. We’ve invested in Tech Catalyst to help our clients navigate this exciting era and rapidly find new and different ways of approaching business opportunities with innovation at the core.
“Combining technical AI and engineering capabilities within Tech Catalyst, with PwC’s deep industry and functional expertise, is what enables us to support our clients to progress to the next level at pace.
“Tech Catalyst combines our analytical rigour with the agile, experimental mindset of a startup, and the creative spirit of a design studio. It is key to empowering our clients, and our people, to achieve better, faster and more impactful outcomes, solving problems for both today and tomorrow.”
Embedding AI across PwC
In order to run transformative AI for its clients, PwC needed to go through the journey itself. All of the firm’s people are now using GenAI tools, from the latest versions of multiple large language models via its proprietary ChatPwC platform and ChatGPT Enterprise, to specialist GenAI products PwC has developed alongside its technology alliance partners.
Umang Paw said:
“Having had a dedicated AI function for nearly a decade, we are "re-wiring" all of our services to ensure AI is embedded in everything we do for our clients. PwC’s agent OS, our own AI agents orchestration platform, allows us to re-invent our service delivery whilst also enabling our clients to transform their operations. Along the way, we've learned valuable lessons not just about the technology and infrastructure required, but also about the skills and cultural changes necessary to underpin success.
“This experience, alongside the strength of technical capabilities in Tech Catalyst, gives us the experience to best support our clients and provide tailor-made technology solutions across industries.”
At PwC, our purpose is to build trust in society and solve important problems.
