PwC creates closer ties between its UK and Ireland firms through agreement

PwC UK and PwC Ireland are building closer ties to service clients across the island of Ireland through an agreement which will see the firms collaborate across their combined businesses.

The agreement, which will be in place from 1 July, means that the PwC network will take an ‘all Ireland’ approach to delivering for clients, consistent with other large firms in the professional services sector.

The understanding between the firms reflects confidence in the growth prospects for businesses across the island of Ireland, and will strengthen PwC’s ability to deliver for clients, thanks to the combined support of around 7,500 staff and partners from eight offices across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

International businesses with a footprint on Ireland will also benefit from the arrangement, with experts on business practices and regulations on both sides of the border working closer than ever before, providing seamless advice.

As part of this agreement, PwC Ireland will take over the UK firm’s audit practice in Northern Ireland in a move that is being driven by regulatory and client needs.

Cat McCusker, Market Senior Partner for PwC Northern Ireland, said:

“At PwC we are committed to supporting our business and our people, as we continue to grow at pace to meet increased client demand across the island of Ireland. By aligning our UK and Irish businesses we are in an even stronger position to continue our growth in the years ahead.

“With our clients facing a convergence of increasingly complex challenges, from macroeconomic volatility and geopolitical threats to climate action and the rise of GenAI, the investment from both firms in an ‘all Ireland’ model helps all business across both sides of the Border by bringing together the diversity and skills that are required to help our clients continue to transform and grow”.

Enda McDonagh, Managing Partner, PwC Ireland, said:

“This closer alignment reflects PwC’s confidence in the growth prospects for businesses across the island of Ireland.  This collaboration, combined with recent investments in our PwC Private practice, is further demonstration of PwC’s commitment to private business and to clients in the sector.

“It provides PwC with a real opportunity to work with our clients in local markets, using local people, by bringing together the strength of our human-led, technology-enabled solutions across both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland”.
