Colin Graham, Head of Tax Policy, PwC UK said:
"UK businesses were hoping for a return to a ‘no surprises’ budget and they largely got their wish. With no room for large growth boosting giveaways, the muted pre-Budget speculation followed by the restraint, lack of surprises, and a small scattering of reliefs brings a degree of calm after a turbulent few years.
“Outside of the banking sector, business leaders will be happy this Budget was low on drama - the stability this brings may do more for growth long term than any single high-profile announcement. That said, there is real complexity in this Budget for shareholder-owners but looking more widely there is some encouragement that the government is listening to the increasing clamour for simplification to facilitate confidence and investment.”
