November 2025

PwC UK Corporate Finance is pleased to announce that it has advised Student Homes Management Limited (“SHM”) on the formation of a new joint venture with Brookfield Asset Management (“Brookfield").

The partnership aims to build a best-in-class platform investing in high-quality student HMO ("house in multiple occupation") properties across prime UK university cities. The joint venture has been seeded with a portfolio comprising approximately 1,250 beds across 11 UK university cities, including Manchester, Liverpool, Exeter and Bristol.

SHM is a leading integrated student HMO platform with a proven track record in scaling and managing granular portfolios. The business has built and stabilised a portfolio of over 2,000 beds across 13 prime UK university cities, creating high-quality, affordable and design-led homes for students. SHM was recognised as Investor of the Year at the 2024 Student Accommodation Awards.

Brookfield is one of the world’s largest alternative investment managers and brings extensive experience and global scale in student accommodation investment, having been a key player in several landmark student housing transactions.

PwC Corporate Finance acted as exclusive financial adviser to SHM, leading the end-to-end capital raise process to identify and secure a strategic capital partner to accelerate growth.

“PwC played an instrumental role in helping us secure the right strategic partner for the next phase of our growth. Their understanding of the student accommodation market and hands-on approach were a major support throughout this process.”
