We aim to inspire individuals with Chinese heritage and Chinese linkage to break cultural prejudices and bamboo ceilings, to establish closer connections, to achieve better successes and to make more effective contributions to society.

What is the Chinese Talent Network?

In a time of global uncertainty, the demand for intercultural sensitivity is reaching a critical level. Embedding diversity, finding and nuturing the best talent - regardless of race, gender or social background has become a key focus for most multinational organisations.

The Chinese Talent Network is a cross-company collaboration founded with the aim of improving the pipeline of culturally dexterous leaders, of Chinese heritage or linkage, who can make the most of the Golden Era of UK-China relations. Partner organisations have a shared vision to create a meaningful mentoring network, promote role models, and provide ongoing guidance and support to professionals at different stages of their career.

Our objectives

Develop culturally dexterous leaders who are able to take advantage of their cultural knowledge, and combine this with their emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills to achieve the best results for the companies they work for, and for themselves.

Raise awareness of the unique challenges faced by employees of a Chinese heritage due to cultural values and behavioural traits.

Increase the number of individuals from Chinese heritage in senior leadership positions [and in pipeline] through coaching and personal development.
 

Improve the voice of the Chinese community in Britain at the diversity table.
 

Building a platform to 'Learn, Network and Develop'

Using the model of ‘Learn, Network and Develop’, we combine online and classroom learning with networking and coaching to support Chinese and non-Chinese professionals. This is facilitated through a distinctive learning platform bringing together and leveraging content from existing talent programmes, role model networks and diversity initiatives.

  • work collaboratively to raise awareness of the issues impacting Chinese professionals in the UK
  • celebrate and promote successful Chinese role models at all levels
  • support an inclusive environment which values and promotes cultural diversity; and
  • play an active part in the coaching programme by providing both mentors and participants

Sign up to inspire the next generation of leaders as a coach if:

  • you are a senior executive with significant experience in your fields / sectors
  • you have a passion for coaching and bringing the best out of people; and
  • you can commit c. 3 hours each month to the Mentoring Programme over a 12-month cycle
