Maverick Inc. - next generation oil & gas upstream business
This is an innovative three-way collaboration between PwC, Royal Dutch Shell and SAP to explore what public cloud products can do for the Oil & Gas industry and the Intelligent Enterprise. The demonstration company we have designed, Maverick NextGen Energies Inc. has engaged different business, finance and IT communities within Royal Dutch Shell to ensure the configuration of the S/4HANA Public Cloud supporting Maverick represents the needs of the industry, show the art of the possible and the scale of the opportunity.
Initially the focus started with the core finance capabilities (including tax and internal controls) and Maverick is used as a 'change mechanism' to help engage impacted communities, to inform and shape the next steps in the next generation SAP ERP journey for Shell. The next phase of the Maverick story was the broader engagement and feedback with other international oil and gas companies, to gather wider industry input, allowing the building out the Maverick asset and operational aspects, helping define the industry standard for Oil &Gas S/4HANA Public Cloud.

Shell's working with SAP and PwC to form a newco, a new energy company called Maverick. It's really going to be an effective change tool to help change the mindsets of what the art of the possible is.
Maverick is a great opportunity for us to illustrate the technology innovation that comes from SAP's products in a safe environment, that allows us to test the boundaries to illustrate the benefits and the human insight that can be derived from this new technology.
We're really excited at SAP about what S/4Hana Cloud can do for Shell and provide competitive advantage. We're gonna be simplifying all of the tasks, making it better and easier for Shell to service their customers. We're going to utilise these practices across the enterprise, thereby delivering a competitive advantage and everything that they do.
Moving business processes to cloud technology allows businesses to focus on where it's differentiating, where it creates value for its customers.
This is intelligent enterprise in the cloud, utilising things like artificial intelligence, machine learning, analytics. It's going to really change the way they deliver their products as services to their customers.
That's the best of SAP's technology innovation, PwC's business understanding and the human insight that arises. It's a huge opportunity for employees in an organisation in adopting and embracing these new cloud technologies. When doing so it frees up time, it's an enriching experience and the day-to-day job just becomes that much easier.
