The challenge

Rising demand for clean, secure power

Our role

Helping assess a large-scale and fast-growing renewable energy platform

The outcome

Supporting long-term investment in energy infrastructure

As Europe's energy transition gathers pace, we helped support private capital investment in the infrastructure needed to deliver future renewable energy growth.

Meeting tomorrow's energy needs

Europe's energy system is entering a new phase. As economies electrify and digital infrastructure expands, demand for power is rising, and significant investment is needed to deliver the infrastructure that will support future growth.

With energy security and decarbonisation remaining major priorities, investors are focused on infrastructure businesses that can help meet long-term demand while supporting the transition to a lower-carbon economy.

Danish energy company Eurowind Energy has built a substantial renewable energy platform across Europe, combining operational wind and solar assets with a significant pipeline of projects under construction and development.

When private equity investor, Blackstone, agreed to invest up to €2 billion in the business, it was supporting a platform positioned to become a leading independent power producer playing an important role in Europe's evolving energy landscape.

Bringing clarity to complexity

Eurowind's growth has been rapid, creating a portfolio that spans multiple technologies, markets and ownership structures. Assessing a platform of this scale requires a detailed understanding of both the factors common to renewable energy businesses and the considerations specific to its operating model and its investments.

Working alongside Blackstone, we combined our renewable energy sector experience with Deals and Tax expertise to assess the platform's historical and current performance, as well as evaluating how it is investing in future projects and assessing risks that could affect long-term value.

Our data-led approach enabled us to identify and focus on the areas most relevant to our client's investment thesis. Through close collaboration with them and their wider advisor group, we helped support an informed investment decision process.

"We are proud to have supported Blackstone on a transaction that demonstrates the important role private capital can play in advancing Europe's transition to a more secure, lower-carbon energy system."

Supporting future growth

Blackstone's investment of up to €2 billion provided Eurowind with significant capital to accelerate the build-out of renewable energy projects across Europe.

Our work assessing the platform helped support Blackstone's investment in the next phase of the company's growth, providing insight into both existing operations and the future development pipeline. The investment will help expand Eurowind's operational portfolio and advance wind, solar and energy storage projects across European markets.

More broadly, the transaction reflects investor confidence in the long-term role renewable energy will play in meeting growing power demand. It also demonstrates how investment can support a more sustainable, resilient and secure energy system.
