Marco Amitrano transcript

Our 20,000 clients include many of the most significant public, private and third sector organisations, with a reach that impacts millions of customers, employees and broader stakeholders.

During yet another year of economic and societal turbulence, clients have turned to us for all kinds of advice and I’m proud of how our teams have responded, acting at speed and showing real care for our clients’ challenges and opportunities.

At the heart of our approach is our Global strategy, which we call The New Equation. It uniquely combines our in-depth business and industry expertise with our technology capabilities, to help clients manage urgent short-term threats while implementing essential longer-term transformation.

That need for longer-term strategic change was confirmed by our 26th annual CEO Survey, which highlighted that almost a quarter of UK CEOs believe their current business model won't survive the decade.

By combining our people’s diverse skills and experience with our technology capabilities, and those of our technology alliance partners, we’ve worked with clients to help them build greater resilience and explore the potential of emerging technologies in delivering sustained outcomes.

As a £5.8bn, multi-disciplinary Professional Services business, learning from our own experience and evolution is fundamental to how we serve our clients. Enhancing our capabilities remains a priority and, to ensure we stay at the leading edge, we’ve continued to invest in both new services, such as Net Zero Transformation and Execution Managed Services, as well as in our core businesses, including Audit and Tax.

Our global investment in Artificial Intelligence stands out as a milestone this year as we look to unlock value for our clients from GenAI and other technologies. We’re fostering an environment where we use it at the right pace, to deliver distinctive and quality outcomes faster, and in ethical and responsible ways.

From strategy to managed services, and from new technology implementation to customer-led change, our Consulting business has continued to design and deliver large-scale technology-enabled transformation projects. That's allowed us to work more effectively with organisations like Sage Group, one of our specialist alliance technology partners, where we've provided 150 of their clients with the insight needed to grow revenues, simplify operations and reduce costs.

There’s also been a great deal of market activity and tough competition for audit and assurance work, where we remain committed to delivering consistently high-quality audits. Alongside winning some high-profile mandates this year, we’ve responded to the growing appetite for non-financial reporting - for example through our work to independently assure Unilever’s global sustainability report.

The agility of our Deals business was proven again in the past year. While mergers and acquisitions have been quieter, our value creation, restructuring and forensic investigation teams have supported clients across all sectors to realise value and enhance reputation, helping put capital to work in the most effective way for all stakeholders.

Our Tax services are evolving too - with this part of our business spearheading the firm’s progress in GenAI through our investment in the Harvey platform, while also helping clients reframe the strategic value that tax operations can deliver as part of their wider technology transformation journey.

Helping our clients with their risks and regulatory needs is also a core part of what we do. We’ve seen our clients continue to rethink their approach to risk - and we've been supporting them in building and maintaining resilient organisations, while turning established and evolving risks into competitive advantage.

To deliver consistently and effectively for our clients across industries and regions we know that we can’t stand still. We have to build on our strong foundations by creating a culture of continuous improvement and trust, underpinned by a strong and sustained focus on quality.
