PwC Manchester moves in to No1 Spinningfields

Monday 20th November marks the start of a new era for PwC in the North West and the Manchester office as 920 staff say farewell to Barbirolli Square, the home of PwC Manchester for the last 20 years, and relocate to the new iconic No1 Spinningfields - the final commercial property to be constructed in Spinningfields.

GDP could be boosted by around £180 billion a year if the UK could match New Zealand’s employment rates for the over-55s. While employment of older workers has improved in the UK in recent years, it still ranks only 21st out of 35 OECD countries according to new analysis from PwC.

Drones could add £42bn to UK GDP by 2030 - PwC research

Drone technology has the potential to increase UK GDP by £42 billion (or 2%) by 2030, according to new research from PwC. The research estimates there will be more than 76,000 drones1 in use across UK skies by 2030. More than a third of these (36%) could be utilised by the public sector (including in areas such as defence, health and education).

North West based organisations fined over £800k for flouting current UK data protection laws in 2017

Of the 91 enforcement actions for breaches of current data protection laws taken by the ICO last year, 8 monetary penalties were issued to North West based organisations, totalling £810,000, spanning financial services, marketing/advertising, automotive and local government. With the biggest changes to data protection law for over 20 years coming into force this week, with the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), organisations risk larger fines in the year ahead if they fail to ensure compliance.
