Benchmarking is an important part of how we measure our performance and continually challenge ourselves to innovate and improve.
Taking part in awards schemes is one good way to maintain rigour in our data collection processes, to benchmark our programmes, and to gain valuable feedback from established external bodies.
External recognition also helps our stakeholders to gauge how we’re doing against our ambitions.
We’ve retained the highest possible rating, 5 stars, in Business in the Community’s (BITC) 2016 Corporate Responsibility Index. The CR Index is the UK’s leading voluntary benchmark of corporate responsibility. It helps businesses to assess how successfully they are integrating responsible business practices into their operations by assessing factors ranging from organisational culture and values to environmental impact and transparency over pay policies. We’re delighted to have been named Most Inclusive Employer of the Year at the 2015 European Diversity Awards which recognise organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to equality, diversity and inclusion. As a progressive employer, equal opportunities and inclusivity are a key part of our business strategy.
We’ve held BITC’s CommunityMark since 2011, and were reaccredited in 2015. This is the UK’s only national standard for community engagement.
We won the 2degrees award in 2014 for best internal engagement with our online training course, ‘Think Sustainability’. This helps our people and contractors to consider the sustainability implications of their work.
Our Embankment Place office achieved the BREEAM Outstanding rating in 2014, with the highest ever score at that time... It joined our More London office which achieved the Outstanding rating in 2012.

Having achieved the Carbon Trust Standard for the third time in 2013, we were one of the first organisations to achieve the Carbon Trust ‘triple crown’ of certificates for good carbon, water and waste management.
We’re delighted to be one of the first seven companies to achieve the Carbon Trust Supply Chain Standard in recognition for our responsible procurement practices.
For a record 12th year running we’ve been voted the UK’s Top Graduate Employer by final year students, in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers 2015 survey.
We’ve been recognised as a leader in workplace gender equality by being included for the ninth year in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2016. The unranked list, which includes public and private sector employers and organisations, is published in The Times in partnership with Business in the Community.
We’ve been awarded platinum status for gender equality, and gold status for race equality, in BITC’s comprehensive annual benchmarking, , recognising advances being made by organisations in creating an inclusive workplace.
We’ve been ranked in 11th place by Stonewall, the leading LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) rights organisation, 11th place in its 2016 Top 100 Employers Index - an annual audit of workplace culture for LGBT staff. In addition our inclusive business network, GLEE (gay, lesbian and everyone else) has been highly commended by Stonewall for its contribution to LGBT equality and inclusion.
We’ve been an accredited UK Living Wage Employer since the scheme’s introduction in 2011. This applies to all of our staff and those of our suppliers who work permanently at our sites across the UK.
We’ve retained the Gold rating in the EcoVadis supplier assessment, which rates our performance in areas related to the environment, labour practices, fair business practices, and supply chain management.
We've been recognised again as a 'rated' supplier in the Chartered Institute for Purchasing and Supply's Sustainability Index. This provides our clients with another independent accreditation of our sustainability performance.
We’re one of only a handful of organisations to achieve the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) Platinum accreditation, in recognition of world class supply chain management.
