European Commission proposes Benchmark Regulation amendments
On 17 October 2023, the European Commission published a proposal to amend the EU’s Benchmark Regulation (BMR). The proposal provides for a simplified approach to EU and third country benchmarks, and will significantly reduce the scope of benchmark administrators subject to its requirements.
The transitional period before which non-EU benchmark providers would need to comply with the BMR has already been extended to 31 December 2025.
