Sandeep Agrawal: I think the rise of generative AI really brings a paradigm shift in the legal industry.
Trusha Kachhela: Legal teams haven't had to evolve much over the years but of course, everybody now knows that it's inescapable.
Tilly Harries: Generative AI gives us the opportunity to really lead on technology with things like Harvey.
Trusha Kachhela: What Harvey absolutely is brilliant at is taking away those process oriented, repetitive, arguably boring tasks.
Tilly Harries: Things which could have taken weeks could easily be done within minutes by AI.
Sandeep Agrawal: We currently see close to 30% to 35% efficiency gain already.
Trusha Kachhela: Can you imagine how much capacity that releases and actually what legal departments can then do with that time.
Tilly Harries: I think it's really useful that we are sort of testing AI out on ourselves and being at the forefront of it because we can share our experiences with our clients. We can reassure them about the use of AI and we can also share the negative sides, some of the risks. You still need a human to make a judgment call, be wary of things like bias. The clearer you are, the more information you give, the better the output.
Trusha Kachhela: We are transforming technologically way more than we've ever done before in our own legal team.
Sandeep Agrawal: We are actually working with a few law schools to train our legal professionals, get them certified on legal, generative AI. AI will not replace lawyers, but it may replace lawyers who don't use AI.
Tilly Harries: I'd urge all legal departments to be part of the disruption rather than being disrupted by AI..
