Key outcomes:

  • Emissions forecasting
  • Net Zero pathway alignment
  • Scenario and sensitivity analysis
  • Target tracking and progress monitoring

PEM functionalities

PEM was developed as our proprietary digital asset to address the key challenges our clients face in achieving Net Zero, focusing on the following four pillars:

Build a trusted emissions foundation

PEM combines client data with curated external datasets to improve emissions coverage and reduce manual effort.

Key benefits

Third-party data extensive access and processing covering all 7 PCAF asset classes

Tailored methodologies for different data providers

Flexible data prioritisation based on user input, including sensitivity analysis to assess differences in results

Data quality assessments across inputs and third-party providers

Deliver reporting with confidence

Generate consistent, transparent and audit-ready emissions outputs aligned to leading frameworks.

Key benefits

Scope 3 category 15 financed and facilitated emissions calculation split by asset class, industry, and scope

PCAF-compliant methodologies across all 7 PCAF asset classes

Data templates structured and streamlined

Report-ready results downloadable at a click of a button

Turn emissions into decision-useful insights

Understand how emissions interact with portfolio risk and identify emerging trends before they become material.

Key benefits

Risk and materiality assessment incorporating ESG and financial metrics to inform investment decisions

YoY monitoring of trends and volatility

Impact assessment for methodology decisions

Sensitivity analysis for key parameters and assumptions

Move from reporting to transition planning

Forecast future emissions, test strategic choices and assess whether climate targets are achievable.

Key benefits

Emissions forecasting against published scenario pathways

Corporate strategy integrated with decarbonisation strategy

Decarbonisation levers that are tangible and actionable to inform projections

Reverse stress testing to meet climate ambitions

Target tracking and feasibility assessment

One platform. Five integrated capabilities.

PEM connects data, reporting, analytics and strategy in a single workflow, helping organisations move from emissions measurement to informed action.

Data warehouse

The Data warehouse module enables access to third-party datasets that fill gaps where emissions data is unavailable. It enhances coverage for financed emissions calculations across geographies, industries, and PCAF asset classes. These datasets include EXIOBASE, OECD, World Bank, EPC, PCAF real estate, UK EPC register, DUKES, PRIMAP, EEA.

Reporting and configuration

The Reporting and configuration module enables the calculation of metrics across all PCAF asset classes, including financed and facilitated emissions, economic and physical emissions intensity, PCAF data quality scores, forecasted emissions and more.

Metrics are split by emissions scope, and counterparty-level results are downloadable at a click of a button.

Where more than one methodology can be followed, PEM allows for multiple methodologies based on the underlying data used, for example for Mortgages and CRE.

Portfolio analytics

The Portfolio analytics module provides insights and analysis for the reporting year results across the whole portfolio. The distribution of financed emissions by sector / country / other categories as applicable to be assessed.

The module also trend analysis in the form of monitoring of year-on-year results, allowing the user to investigate portfolio movements between reporting years and assess volatility.

Assurance and evidence

The Assurance and evidence module performs reconciliation of emission metrics from different runs of the tools, for tasks like sensitivity analysis, methodology impact assessments and assurance, using adjustable materiality thresholds.

Scenarios and strategy

The Scenarios and strategy module enables the user to look into the future and assess climate ambition towards Net Zero.

The module enables the user to integrate corporate planning into emissions forecasting, projecting future emissions against published scenario pathways while implementing actionable decarbonisation levers such as dynamic balance sheet adjustments and new business strategies.

It provides insights into the effectiveness of your decarbonisation strategy, with the options for reverse stress testing target achievement, facilitating strategic planning and risk management.
