Meet Sruti, who’s passionate about the powerful role culture plays in delivering high-quality audits.
Can you tell us about your journey to PwC?
I first joined PwC India in Hyderabad, working on service sector clients while studying. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, I moved briefly into industry at a pharmaceutical company but soon realised I missed audit and returned to PwC in 2021, joining the Bristol office before moving to London to specialise in life insurance. Alongside developing my technical specialism, I’ve enjoyed contributing to people-focused initiatives, including training new associates, acting as a group leader and culture champion, and serving on the insurance wellbeing committee. These roles have helped me listen to our teams and act as a link between our people and leadership.
Can you tell us more about your role as a Culture Champion?
At PwC, a Culture Champion helps promote the firm’s culture and drive positive change. For me, it means looking beyond my audit teams to understand how people are feeling, what is working well and where we can improve, then sharing those insights with leadership. I review the firmwide people and culture survey results and run focus groups to identify practical actions. For example, feedback on the need for more coaching led to the first Insurance Coaching Awards, encouraging everyday recognition and helping others prioritise coaching. Brilliant success stories were shared which really encouraged me to reflect on my own coaching techniques and style.
What do you enjoy about being a Culture Champion?
This role has really reinforced for me how closely quality, culture, and wellbeing are connected. If people feel supported, recognised and able to speak up, they are better placed to deliver high-quality work. One of my highlights as a Culture Champ was facilitating psychological safety sessions with those on our graduate programme. I loved being able to create a safe space for everyone to talk about their experiences, how they want to feel at work and the environment they want to create for others.
