Trevor Nagaba: Innovation and data

Can you tell us about your journey at PwC?

I studied electrical engineering at Makerere University in Kampala, and after a short time working as a software engineer, I joined PwC Uganda in 2018. I spent about three years with the Uganda team in tech audit and consulting before moving to Digital Audit in the UK firm. I really enjoyed putting my interest in technology to use in control testing and getting under the skin of how organisations work.

What role do you do now?

I’m now a product manager in the Audit Innovation and Data team. Our role is to work with teams and leadership on how we can combine data auditing with technology in a way that means our audits can deliver greater insights to our clients. One of the things I look after is a suite of tools designed to streamline the project management of large multinational audits. I identify which features should be built, gather feedback from audit teams, prioritise improvements, and work closely with software engineers, designers, and business analysts to deliver them.

What do you enjoy most about your work in Audit Innovation and Data?

What motivates me most is seeing how these tools make a difference to our clients and the people using them. When teams tell me that a tool I’ve worked on has let them focus more time on areas of judgement and value, that’s incredibly rewarding. I also really enjoy working with such a talented team of engineers, designers and analysts, who are so passionate about what they do. Every day, we’re solving problems together, and there’s a real sense of collaboration and continuous improvement.
