Pioneering sustainability reporting, transparency and good governance

Being transparent about our performance is a key principle that underpins our Purpose. It also helps us to meet the growing expectations of our stakeholders for specific non financial information. We keep track of our progress in several ways, and aim to use the same approaches to our measurement and reporting that we recommend to our clients.

Our commitments

Measuring and reporting on our progress in a transparent way is a key principle that underpins our strategy, so we have metrics and targets for each area of our Responsible business framework, aligned to our material issues and the Sustainable Development Goals.

In 2020, PwC set Net Zero targets with 2030 commitments however, we have also set shorter term FY25 targets to help inspire a step-change in our performance. We review all of the metrics regularly to ensure ongoing alignment with the strategy and expand our scope.

Our annual performance

We measure and report transparently against a comprehensive series of metrics and targets in our Integrated Reporting Hub. This supports the narrative in our Annual Report, and all of the data has been independently assured against our reporting criteria to the ISAE 3000 standard, and – for greenhouse gas emissions – to the ISAE 3410 standard.

External standards

We maintain several management systems to recognised standards to help us continuously improve our processes. Understanding risk and delivering quality are fundamental to the success of our business, so we invest in continuous improvement of our internal systems and standards. Over the years, we’ve implemented a number of management systems which are certified to recognised British and international standards, and are examined by external experts on a regular basis. They assess the strength of processes and controls related to specific sustainability topics identified in our materiality matrix.
