Don’t worry about marking delays - PwC reassures undergraduate offer-holders

22 Jun 2023

University marking delays will not impact the ability of students to start graduate jobs at PwC. The firm is writing this week to offer-holders - guaranteeing there will be no deferrals of their offers and they will start work at the expected time, even if they have not received their final result.

PwC is one of the biggest student employers, taking on around 2,000 graduates from universities each year, in addition to school-leaver entrants. More than 1,600 graduates are due to begin their PwC careers, including 75 in Northern Ireland, with start dates ranging from 7 August to 4 September.

The firm recently removed the 2:1 degree requirement for its graduate roles, but offer-holders are still required to have a degree.

Cat McCusker, regional market leader for PwC Northern Ireland, says:

“Students leaving university this summer have faced a fair amount of disruption - first Covid during their studies, now the risk of delayed results. We want to make sure uncertainty about when they’ll start work isn’t another thing they have to worry about. Hopefully this extra reassurance will allow students to start the holidays with peace of mind.

“Our offer-holders have already proved themselves through our assessments so we are confident in both their abilities and potential. Given the unprecedented circumstances, we feel it is important to tell our people now that their start date with us will remain unchanged.”

Last year PwC received 95,000 applications for its graduate and school leaver programmes. Applicants are assessed through a range of tests and interviews.
