What has happened?

  • Zelf Hussain, Peter Dickens and Yulia Marshall of PwC have been appointed as joint administrators of (the Companies) on 30 June 2020. In addition, Ross Connock of PwC was also appointed as joint administrator of Formation Furniture Limited. 

  • Immediately following the appointment, the Bensons for Beds business was sold to Bensonsforbedsretail Limited and Bensonsforbedsmanufacture Limited (“the Purchasers”) in what is referred to as a pre-packaged administration. The Purchasers will continue to trade the Bensons for Beds business and will honour all Harveys customer orders that were live/open as at 30 June 2020.

  • The Purchasers have agreed to honour all existing customer deposits and orders for both Bensons and Harveys.

  • The joint administrators will continue to trade the Harveys business operations whilst all options are explored for its future. The majority of Harveys’ staff have been retained by the joint administrators to support the trading period. 

Are Harveys and Bensons continuing to trade?

  • Yes. Both businesses are continuing to trade and most stores are open as normal.

  • The Harveys furniture business is continuing to trade in administration under the supervision of the joint administrators with a view to selling all existing stock. 

  • The Purchasers are continuing to trade Bensons for Beds following their acquisition of the business from the joint administrators.

I have already placed an order. Will it be delivered? 

  • The Purchasers have undertaken to honour all outstanding customer orders placed before 30 June 2020. This applies to both Bensons for Beds and Harveys Furniture customers. Your order will be honoured unless otherwise informed by the Purchasers

  • You do not need to do anything now. You will be contacted in due course regarding completion/delivery of your order.

I paid a Deposit. What will happen to it?

  • Your deposit is safe. The Purchasers have said they will honour existing orders as at 30 June 2020, including deposits paid.

  • You do not need to do anything now. You will be contacted in due course regarding completion/delivery of your order.

Can I cancel my outstanding order?

  • All existing orders for both Harveys and Bensons are being honored by the Purchasers of the Bensons business.

What will happen to my finance agreement?

  • Existing finance agreements for purchases from Bensons/Harveys are not affected. Your finance agreement is between you and the finance provider.  You should contact the finance provider if you have any queries but our expectation is that this will continue as normal and you should continue to make payments as normal.

  • If you have any issues with payments under the finance agreement those should be directed to the finance provider and not the Companies in administration. 

I have bought a product that was faulty/damaged. What about my warranty?

  • Bensons for Beds

    • As part of purchase of the Bensons for Beds business, the Purchasers have formally agreed to honour any pre-administration warranties.

  • Harvey’s Furniture

    • Warranties for Harveys Furniture products cannot be honoured.

    • Any claims you have under the guarantee will be an unsecured claim in the administration. It is too early for us to say whether unsecured creditors will receive a payment on their claims.

I purchased a Care and Protect Insurance Policy for my furniture. What happens to the cover?

If you took out an insurance policy at the time of purchase (commonly referred to as a “Care and Protect” policy), your cover is still valid and your ability to make a claim under your policy is not affected. Claims notification procedures have not changed, please refer to your policy wordings by following the relevant link below. Any claims or policy queries can be addressed by the claims administrator.
