Transport for London (TfL) - Senior Finance Business Partner

  • Placement of PwC Senior Manager to perform a group FP&A role.
  • Overseeing £30m of cost savings, providing monitoring and feedback to the business when this was not being achieved.
  • Building a bottom up budgeting process to capture two years of P&L budgets worth £100m p.a. and a ten year Capital renewals programme worth £240m. This was underpinned by a budgeting pack highlighting key assumptions.

Financial Planning and Analysis support at a UK university

  • PwC individual joined the finance team, generating a regular and uniform reporting process where this didn’t exist previously.
  • Performed sensitivity analysis and managed submissions to the Office for Students and lenders regarding underperformance issues.
  • The enhanced reporting helped the University obtain additional funding from lenders.  

Interim Finance Director for stabilisation of APAC business

  • Worked alongside the Group CFO and local MD to stabilise the business in Singapore, whilst providing management input and oversight for five other APAC subsidiaries across Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia.
  • Roles included Head of Group Controlling, Interim FD to complex. APAC subsidiary and budget analyst.
  • Conducted detailed bottom-up budget process and delivered in line with annual budget until the end of the mandate.

Distribution business

  • Individual seconded into the business to work closely with the Group Strategy Director.
  • Project managing a review of numerous underperforming customer contracts.
  • Analysis and presentations to brief the Group Strategy Director ahead of fee negotiations with largest customers.
  • Worked closely with the FP&A Director and Operational Finance team to recommend and model top line fee increases.
  • Support in preparing for diligence questions on the turnaround plan as part of the sales process.

Steel Manufacturer

  • Large multinational steel manufacturer.
  • The client was looking to grow and take advantage of consolidation opportunities in the market, including stressed and distressed competitors.
  • One secondee (Manager level) was provided to support the M&A Director at the client for a period of 4 months.
  • We supported with the identification, evaluation and acquisition of target opportunities, bringing specialist accounting and restructuring skills into the client’s team.
  • This included one purchase of an overseas customer, helping the overall business to grow.

UK Shopping Centre Group - Cash Manager

  • An experienced Manager was seconded to stand up and embed a short term cash flow forecasting process which was suitable to be shared with lenders.
  • Identified the underlying factors impacting cash and provided greater visibility to management in order to allow them to make more informed decisions.
  • Developed detailed scenario-based forecasting which improved the management team’s ability to inform lenders and advisors of alternative financing options.
