The PwC Foundation is a registered charity (No 1144124), set up in October 2011 to promote social inclusion and sustainable development in the UK, in line with our purpose.
We're supporting four strategic partner charities, which align with our new community strategy focus areas. Two of these charities have been voted for by our staff. They chose to support UK Youth as our social mobility partner, and Samaritans as our mental health and wellbeing partner. The other two PwC Foundation charities are long standing partners: Beyond Food and Wellbeing of Women.
Find out more about these current fundraising partners below:
The funds we raise for UK Youth will help to improve social mobility for more young people across the UK, and expand UK Youth’s reach to disadvantaged young people in the most deprived areas of the country.
Their aim is to strengthen youth organisations in social mobility ‘cold spots’ to ensure all young people, regardless of background or circumstance, have opportunities to learn, develop skills and increase their employability.
Our partnership with Samaritans will help them train 500 volunteers, who could answer an additional 105,000 calls each year. That’s 105,000 lives changed just like Georgia’s. It only costs £200 to train a volunteer and Samaritans need more listening volunteers so they can be there when it matters.
The Beyond Food Community Interest Company inspires people who are at risk of, or have experienced, homelessness to gain meaningful employment, through their social enterprise restaurant, Brigade. They passionately believe in the power of food as a catalyst to break the cycle of homelessness and reinvest all their profits to deliver social value.
We raise funds through activities great and small throughout the year, and we are very proud of the support our people give to our charity partners. They have run, swum, made cakes, ate cakes, climbed mountains, trekked, cycled and quizzed to support the charity beneficiaries. Two of our largest fundraising activities are featured in our 2017 Annual report, Ride the Nation and the PwC Games. Our annual fundraising and volunteering day, One Firm One Day, is also a great showcase of our support for our PwC Foundation charities.
