Gareth is a pensions actuary with more than 22 years’ experience of advising companies across a wide range of pensions issues.

His expertise is in the provision of strategic and commercial advice to help companies efficiently manage their defined benefit pensions risk, whether in a corporate transaction or on an ongoing basis.

He is the North West lead on the development of innovation of scheme funding solutions, helping clients retain cash in their businesses. His experience includes:

• Pioneering liability reduction exercises to take liabilities off balance sheet for major plc and large FTSE equivalent inbound groups including exercises for several thousand lives:
• Introducing Asset Backed Contribution (ABC) funding structures for clients to deliver tax efficient answers;
• Solving pensions issues in major transactions, including the Metro sale of Makro, PAI equity partners acquisition of Servisair and Corbion NV’s disposal of its global bakery division to Bain Capital; and
• PPF levy solutions to help save clients £ms of cash.
