Annual Report 2023

Developing transformational leadership

Play field
  • Case Study
In a landscape defined by polycrisis and disruption, organisational success is driven by leaders who deeply understand the interconnectedness of the trends currently shaping the world.

Setting the scene

PwC’s global Workforce Platform leadership team saw the need to create a collaborative, transformative leadership development programme - designed to prepare senior leaders for the challenge of running an organisation with competing and conflicting challenges.

Structured into three modules, the Leaders Solving for Tomorrow programme supports participants to:

  • Repair the immediate challenges their organisations need to focus on

  • Rethink organisational structure to ensure sustainable growth in the future

  • Reconfigure their organisations and the tools they need to make a shift happen

How we helped

We recognise the importance of cross-cultural and cross-industry collaboration in tackling these issues, and as such we ensure our participants have access to curated and compelling content, renowned subject-matter experts, and facilitated group working sessions - purposefully made up of diverse territory and industry groups.

During the programme, participants explore the system of crises and five global Megatrends we identified which impact individuals, organisations and nation states:

  • Climate change

  • Technological disruption

  • Demographic shifts

  • Fracturing world

  • Social instability

The course looks at how these are impacting organisations and institutions in a way that has never been witnessed before. We explore the interconnected system of short-term crises and their connection to the Megatrends, followed by the scope and scale of reconfiguration needed in organisations to transform with a better future in mind, and to enable institutions to survive and thrive.

"I found the programme really provocative and deep, and it has formed the basis of how I want to start leading going forward. It focused on objectives in value creation activities, and how we can lead our people and carry them along with us on this journey."

Making a difference

Participants overwhelmingly endorse the programme in helping them combat future leadership challenges. Some 90% say they gained greater awareness of their personal challenges, and felt enabled to apply what they’d learned. Likewise, 90% say their ability to lead sustained organisational change has been positively influenced.

We set up an alumni network to strengthen the value generated from the programme. It provides leaders with an opportunity to stay connected and gives access to further development, as well as the latest thought leadership.

The programme has also won us an HR Excellence Award, where we were recognised for the most innovative approach to leadership development in 2022.
