Matt is a Manager and Solicitor in PwC’s Employment Legal team and has five years’ experience of dealing with both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. Matt advises clients on a wide range of issues with a particular focus on National Minimum Wage compliance, investigations and the enforceability of restrictive covenants.

Contentious – Matt has represented clients in Employment Tribunal, High Court and Arbitration proceedings. Matt has defended claims brought by employees and partners, has managed two key restrictive covenant arbitrations and successfully secured a High Court injunction to stop an individual joining his client’s competitor.

Matt also acted on a complex three year-long discrimination claim that was considered by the Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal. Matt also has considerable experience of alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation and arbitration.

Matt has extensive experience of carrying out investigations following allegations of inappropriate behaviour. Matt has acted in this space for clients in the Professional Services, Sports and Healthcare sectors and advised on the retirement of a CEO as a result of one of these investigations.

Non-Contentious - Matt advises a number of clients in the retail sector on all aspects of employment law and spent six months on secondment with John Lewis.

Matt has advised clients in the FS and Education sectors on collective consultation in relation to redundancy exercises and has advised on complex TUPE projects.

Matt has developed a specialism for National Minimum Wage projects and regularly advises some of the UK’s largest employers on their technical queries on the law in this area. Matt is seen as the go to person for these queries.
