Client money & assets update - Client Information Portal - 08/09/09

As part of LBIE's ongoing administration process, the Joint Administrators wish to provide potential pre-administration client money and client asset claimants with further information about their positions with LBIE. To facilitate the dissemination of this information, a portal (the 'Client Information Portal') has been created via a secure website, through which indicative statements can be viewed.

On the 2nd of September, the Joint Administrators sent hard copy letters regarding the Client Information Portal to all pre-administration client money and/or client asset creditors who, according to LBIE's books and records, may (i) be entitled to claim against the pool of client money (as defined by the Financial Services Authority's Client Asset Sourcebook) held by LBIE at the time of administration and/or (ii) have a claim to assets which LBIE holds for its clients in segregated accounts separately from other general accounts at the time of administration.

In the letters, clients were provided with details of their unique LOG ON and instructions on how to access the Client Information Portal.

The Client Information Portal will be open by close of business (London time) on Tuesday, 8th September. Client asset interim position and balance statements will be available from this point. There will be a further update to the Portal to include client money statements on Monday, 14th September.

If you have received your user name and password, we encourage you to log on at the appropriate date and review your individual statements. For the Client Information Portal website click here.

If you have not received a letter with your LOG ON information and believe you have client assets or pre-administration client money held by LBIE, please contact the clientpositionresponses@lbia-eu.com mailbox referencing your full client name and GAC code.

Please note, that only an authorised representative of the legal entity to whom a letter was sent shall access the Client Information Portal on behalf of such entity. Under no circumstances should any other person access the Client Information Portal. The person logging in to the Client Information Portal will be required to make a representation that he/she is authorised on behalf of the relevant entity to access the confidential information contained in the Client Information Portal.

The Joint Administrators have sent this letter to clients who they believe may be entitled to make a client money and/or client asset claim. However, the Joint Administrators are not making any representation or warranty that any recipient of the 2nd of September letter is in fact entitled to make any claim or, if so entitled, what amount (if any) will ultimately be distributed.
